Last year, staffing was a high and rising risk.  This year, in a recessionary climate, others have come to the fore that were previously well down the list, particularly those of credit risk and too little funding.  There had been much discussion about whether microfinance was insulated from the mainstream financial market troubles and, for a while, it looked like that might be the case.  Now though we can say, as a principal at CGAP commented, that microfinance is "correlated with a lag" after all.
